Lieutenant Albert J. Schrempf died in the line of duty while engaged in firefighting operations at a structure fire at 108 Lincoln Avenue in Syracuse. During interior work and exposure to smoke conditions, he suffered a heart attack induced by smoke inhalation and exertion and succumbed to the effects of the injuries sustained in the incident.
