Firefighter Ethan Cunningham died in the line of duty after suffering a fatal heart attack at his home shortly after completing his shift. He had responded to one emergency call and participated in strenuous hose‑drill training during his final tour. Firefighter Cunningham joined the Syracuse Fire Department on June 1, 2005, and faithfully served the City of Syracuse for 11 years. At the time of his passing, he was assigned to Fire Station 9 on D‑Shift, where he dedicated himself to protecting and serving the community.
